Bali is such a stunningly beautiful island, full of iconic sights and incredible places to visit. Here at Bliss, we know that for some people sightseeing and experiencing the different cultures is their bliss, so all our guests have access to our awesome personal drivers during the stay. They will take you wherever you want on the island and they are also the best tour guides and company during these trips! Our hostesses are awesome at recommending amazing places to visit and know all the best spots on the island. They can also tell you good times to go and insider secrets to break away from the tourist crowds. Here are their top picks of the best places to visit during your time on Bali:
Tanah Lot
Tanah Lot (meaning ‘Land in the Sea’) is a very popular and important 16thcentury temple that is accessible from both our Canggu and Seminyak sanctuaries. Tanah Lot temple was built to worship Bhatara Segara (the Sea God). Located 300m offshore, the story goes that a poisonous sea snake was created to live at the base of this rocky island and guard the temple from evil intruders. Many of our guests choose to visit Tanah Lot during their stay with us, and we always recommend taking a trip at sunset or sunrise for a truly awe-inspiring view and at Bliss our drivers do not object to an early start! Even better, if you can visit Tanah Lot during Odalan (a Buddha holy day) you will see many rows of Balinese women carrying offerings on their head to pray at the temple – an incredible sight!
Tegenungan Waterfall
Bali is the perfect island for experiencing a beautiful combination of natural beauty and man-made beauty. One of our favourite spots to experience nature in its purest form is Tegenungan waterfall which is located close to Ubud. Getting to the waterfall is an experience in itself, and you will enjoy a beautiful drive down paved village roads lined with stretches of green fields with your personal driver. When you arrive at the waterfall you are greeted by art and souvenir shops for you to purchase gifts (for yourself or others!) to take back home with you. Lush greenery frames the waterfall and the water volume is most impressive during the rainy season. Here, you can enjoy a dip in the plunge pool and immerse yourself in nature.
Rice Terraces
The rice terrace of Ubud is truly an iconic view, synonymous with Bali and the incredible scenery this beautiful island holds. Tegalalang Rice Terrace in Ubud is a series of rice paddies located close to Ubud and is famous for its traditional Balinese irrigation system known as ‘subak’ – that’s what gives it the iconic terraced layout. For many, this is number one on their Bali bucket list and our drivers love taking a trip there with our guests.
