Bali is famous for a long and rich history of traditional healing therapies, known as Bali Usada. The Balinese are fans of natural remedies for common afflictions and tend to prefer herbs and spices, holistic therapies and ancient wisdom in their healing. Bali is known for being the spiritual centre of Indonesia and Ubud is the centre of this, which is why we are so pleased to be opening our third sanctuary in this immensely spiritual, healing location.
Traditional Healing
A Balian is a traditional Balinese healer who works with divine energy to treat physical and mental illnesses. Balians became more famous in ‘Eat Pray Love’ and since then have become a popular draw to the island for many tourists. Here at Bliss, we encourage healing and wellness sessions as part of your bliss experience and we offer a number of different services, from Colour Puncture to Tarot Reading and bodywork healing.
Hindu Spirituality
The population of Bali is 90% Hindu and this religion is where the common yoga saying ‘namaste’ originates. Hinduism is the oldest living religion in the world and offers many ways to practise spirituality. Bali is steeped in a rich Hindu history, meaning that the island is full of incredible temples and healing locations for you to visit – one of these spots is Tirta Empul, Bali’s Sacred Pool of Purification. For over 1,000 years Balinese worshippers have been visiting the holy water temple and cleansing themselves in the water. Many of our lovely guests at Bliss take a trip to the temple to cleanse themselves and bathe in the refreshing water.
Bali Magic
As an island rich in culture and steeped in spiritual history, Bali is known to have a certain ‘magic’ about it that helps you to heal and grow. In Bali the energy is magical, and the locals live their lives around the power and healing nature of the island, greeting you with their hands in the traditional prayer position and going about their lives with consciousness. The healing power of Bali is emphasised by the delicious fresh and healthy food, the luscious greenery and immersion in nature, the kindness and consciousness of the locals, the spirituality of the sights and the availability of wonderful healers.
