Sarongs are one of the most versatile items for a holiday and a must-have for tropical climates, and we LOVE them at Bliss!
Sarongs originated in tropical countries like Bali and over the years have become a simple yet chic summer accessory. Whether you want to throw one on to wear around the pool at Bliss or create a sarong dress and pair it with some beautiful jewellery for an evening look, there’s a style for every occasion.
As Bali is predominantly Hindu, visitors will have to cover up when attended sacred temples and religious spaces. Sarongs are perfect for this as they fall below the knee but also keep you cool, plus you are embracing the traditional Bali culture.
Beautiful handmade batik sarongs are made from high quality fabrics, coming in beautiful eye-catching radiant colours, and unique designs. Bali sarongs are made from lightweight materials, making it easy to carry.
At Bliss, each one of our ladies that visits us is gifted a new beautiful sarong in their bedroom each day to wear how they wish at the sanctuary or even on their excursions. We have a variety of colours and patterns, plus our personal drivers can take you to the sarong shop to stock up.
Everyone at Bliss loves the ease of wearing sarongs, plus they all look fabulous and vibrant!
Some creative examples of how to wear a sarong are:
- Tie around the waist for a simple beach skirt
- Fold in half and wrap round the waist for a short skirt
- Tie at the top of your chest for a beach dress
- Throw the sarong around your shoulders when the temperature drops in the evenings
- Wrap the sarong around yourself and tie the corners round your neck for a halter style dress
Being able to create multiple different looks with just one piece of clothing is a huge saviour, think of all the space that will be saved in your holiday suitcase! No other piece of clothing is quite so adaptable and versatile.
There are many places in Bali where you can buy sarongs, including the beautiful Bali markets and local shops in Kuta and Seminyak, where many of our guests purchase sarongs to take home to their family and friends as Balinese souvenirs.
We wanted to share our Bliss experience as far as it can go and so we created Bliss News. Even if you can’t go on a beautiful personalised Women’s Retreat right now, we hope you can take the time to add a bit more bliss to your life in whatever way you choose. Self love comes in all different shapes and sizes but the one thing it has in common is that it starts with you. We hope some of our ideas and laughs and wellness retreat additions are something you can incorporate into your everyday life... love Zoë xxx
