As busy women with our own lives and responsibilities, it is important that we all make time for ourselves, whether that’s just taking a scenic stroll, reading a book or embarking on your very own travel adventure.

Time dedicated to ourselves heals our souls and leaves us ready to take on the world.

It doesn’t matter where we choose to go, how we do it or even how far we go – at Bliss, we know travel gives us an opportunity to break the mould, step away from our day to day lives and refill our cups.

Here are 5 ways in which a simple trip away, can do wonders when giving back to ourselves in the name of finding bliss on our terms:

1. Travel makes us accepting of difference

One of the most important things travel does is open our minds to the beautiful people and world around us. Travel makes us less fearful of change and difference and enables us to build appreciation for the variety of amazing ways in which other travellers and local cultures - eat, pray and love.

2. It allows us to explore new possibilities

One thing we love most about travel at Bliss is its ability to make us think outside the box that our everyday lives so often trap us inside of. We’re so blessed to see so many of our gorgeous guests leave as the very best version of themselves.

Through the immersion of different cultures, societies and backgrounds, we learn to be accepting of others and open our eyes to new ways of thinking.

By travelling to new places, we feel rewarded and enlightened and in turn it allows us to consider all the new ways to live and approach challenges that this wonderful world can offer us.

3. We can learn about ourselves

How many times have you heard about someone ‘finding themselves’ on a solo travel endeavour? Travel can often be a real learning curve for us all on our own personal adventures. In so many ways it allows us to re-evaluate the barriers that circle us in life and likewise opportunities presented to us.

By being exposed to new learning opportunities and experiences we can better understand our strengths and weaknesses, that encourage or limit us when it comes to being better versions of ourselves. This is ultimately one of the best gifts travel can give to us, and therefore one of the best gifts we can give ourselves.

4. We are forced to face our fears

Through many ways, travel has the incredible ability to work us up, rattle our cages and push the boundaries of our own fears.

An emotion like fear is so deeply personal – from the fear of heights and spiders to the heavy emotional fear of losing someone you love. Nobody is free of fear but what we are all able to control is how we manage it. Travel throws many things at us but at the same time it forces us to explore these things in more detail and adapt to new situations.

Fear will always exist but learning new techniques to manage our emotions is a great quality to have when giving back to ourselves. It might seem hard in the short term but will benefit us in the longer term.

Many women who come to Bliss take part in activities and learn new skills that they have never done before. This can be anything from learning to surf, to trying out new foods.

5. We learn further appreciation for togetherness and the company of others

Being open to other people, cultures and societies is a truly beautiful thing and we are so blessed to welcome women from different countries and backgrounds all over the world at Bliss. Exploration is a fundamental part of any travel adventure through finding new cultures and places to discover and of course meeting beautiful people. One vital thing that travel has taught us at Bliss is the importance of welcoming of other’s differences.

It truly warms our hearts to see every woman who enters our sanctuaries treat one another with mutual love and respect and learn all about their lives and personal journeys.
